muesli
Adapted from Supernatural Everyday. This makes a big quantity, and it keeps for a long time in a container on the counter.
1 cannister (12 cups) old-fashioned oats
2 cups chopped almonds
1 cup golden raisins
1 cup flax seed meal (or wheat germ, wheat bran, etc.)
1 teaspoon fine-grain sea salt
For serving: plain yogurt and maple syrup or honey
Mix together the oats, almonds, raisins, flax seed meal, and salt. This dry muesli mixture will keep for weeks in a sealed container.
The night before you want to eat muesli for breakfast, put half a cup of plain yogurt in a bowl, and thin it out with ¼ cup of water. (If desired, you can add a little splash of maple syrup, but it’s great without.) Stir in ½ cup of the dry muesli mixture and mix well. Store overnight, covered, in the refrigerator.
The next morning, stir and top with fresh fruit or more raisins.
